Athletes in action: Football
These athletes, all with local high school ties, are scheduled to compete this week in the following events:
Stephen Clark, University of Delaware
High school: Bethel High School

Monday, Oct. 8, versus Delaware State University
Background: Clark is a 2010 graduate of Bethel High School, where he played safety and wide receiver on the football team for coach Jeff Nelson. He was a three-year starter (2007 to 2009) catching 47 career passes for 706 yards and nine touchdowns while leading Bethel to a 23-12 record and three trips to the playoffs. As a senior (2009) Clark had 21 receptions, 521 yards and six touchdowns to earn second-team all-district recognition. As a junior (2008) he hauled in 18 passes for 117 yards and two scores to help Bethel go 7-5 and make it to the second round of the postseason. His team went 10-2 and made it to the second round of the playoffs in 2007 during Clark's sophomore year when he had eight catches for 68 yards and a touchdown. He was also a standout tennis player making to the district match qualifier for both singles and doubles. Clark was a member of the National Honor Society. Born July 14, 1992, the son of Terry and Cynthia Clark, he plans to major in wildlife conservation at Delaware. He is from Hampton.
Jason Graves, Bridgewater College
High school: Hampton High School

Background: Graves is a 2010 graduate of Hampton High School, where he played football for a program that has captured numerous state titles. He was an honorable mention selection at cornerback, and also a member of the National Honor Society. Graves was born Feb. 19, 1992, the son of Chantel Carter. A native of Hampton, Graves is majoring in communications at Bridgewater College.
